E. Logan Butler
Criminal Defense Lawyer
Logan Butler specializes in criminal defense and family law. He is experienced in defending against all felony, misdemeanor and juvenile criminal charges as well as litigating family law issues such as divorce, child custody, child support, contempt and modification actions.
Mr. Butler is a native of Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated from Mars Hill College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He worked as a biologist, specializing in Environmental Health, where he assisted landowners, land developers and industry navigate the various environmental regulations imposed on them by the state and federal governments which led me to pursue a legal career.
Logan Butler graduated cum laude from Georgia State University’s College of Law in 2005. Mr. Butler was a member of the law school’s Moot Court team and competed in the Georgia Intrastate Moot Court Competition. He also served on the Moot Court Board as Vice President of Appellate Advocacy. Under the third year practice act, Mr. Butler began litigating cases as an intern with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia and with the Georgia Justice Project.
Mr. Butler served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Piedmont Judicial Circuit (Barrow, Jackson and Banks County) and for the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit (Forsyth County). He prosecuted cases ranging from DUI to Child Molestation and Murder. In 2008 Mr. Butler resigned his position as an A.D.A. and became of counsel to the law firm of Patterson & Hansford, P.C. where he used his vast trial experience as a prosecutor to effectively defend his clients against criminal charges and to litigate important family law issues. He now serves his clients and his community practicing with the prominent local firm Miles Patterson Hansford Tallant, LLC.
Logan lives in Cumming with his wife Jill and their two daughters. When he is not practicing law, Mr. Butler enjoys spending time with his family on their family farm in South Carolina and enjoying the outdoors of North Georgia and Western North Carolina.
